Oh Jesus! [The bright sunlight splits her vision and she slaps a hand over her eyes as they emerge out of the cavern. She sags against Laura, the world swimming.] Laura... please....

Laura: [Still trying to support her.] Okay honey, let's just get into the shade and then you can sit down. [They manage to stagger a few feet and sink down under a large tree. On her knees beside Marlena, Laura checks her pulse, which is fast and slightly erratic. Marlena moans in pain again and Laura looks around her worriedly.] Dammit, too far for me to go to camp and get Craig's medical bag.... [Looks back at Marlena who is curling up again.] Okay Laura, *think*....

[There's a rustling in the undergrowth and suddenly Kim emerges from the trees.]

Kim: [Annoyed when she sees Laura.] God, you're certainly ubiquitous aren't you? [She stops as she sees Marlena and a strange expression comes over her face.] What's going on?

Laura: [Trying to keep her temper in check.] Marlena's not well. I need Craig's medical bag. Do you think you could go back to camp and get it for me?

Kim: [Vaguely.] Not well? She's been weird ever since she went missing for those couple of days.

Laura: Went missing? When? [Kim blinks vacantly and Laura stands. Putting her hands on Kim's shoulders.] Kim, listen to me. This could be important. When did Marlena go missing?

Kim: [Seems to come to and focuses back on Laura.] You were missing too. Before the tribes merged.

Laura: [Plunders her memory and seems to remember something about Belle in the Horton cabin.] Marlena went missing? Do you know what happened to her? [Kim zones out again and Laura shakes her shoulders.] Kim, I need to know.

Kim: [Blinks and brushes Laura's grip on her away.] Ever thought of trying politeness? It works sometimes you know. [She sighs as Marlena moans in pain again. Laura, torn, looks back at Marlena.]

Laura: [Almost pleading.] Kim, I've been trying to help her but I don't have all the pieces to the jigsaw. Please....

[Kim chews on her lower lip as she watches Laura kneel beside Marlena again and sweep the hair from her face.]

[Slowly draws her hands from her face and opens her eyes, tears trembling on her lashes. Her voice is hoarse.] Laura....?

Laura: I'm here, honey.

Help me....

Kim: [As Laura glances up at her desperately.] She went missing for a couple of days. We were all looking for her, for both of you actually. Sam eventually found her. She was in a cave or something and she had a bruise on her head.

Laura: A cave? [Angrily.] *Brady*. That little shit!

Kim: Brady?

[Moans again almost deleriously.] John.... John?

Laura: [Shaking her head as she wraps her hand around Marlena's and squeezes reassuringly.] Never mind, it's not important at the moment. Right now I need you to go back to camp and get the medical bag. And Shane too. I'm going to need help getting Marlena back to camp.

Kim: [Narrows her eyes but another whimper from Marlena finally breaks her indecision and she nods.] Okay. I'll be back as soon as I can. [She turns and leaves and ]

Laura: [Laura turns her attention back to Marlena.] Okay honey, hang in there, help is coming.

[It seems like long moments later that Marlena's eyes flutter slowly open again and she fixes Laura with a baleful stare.] Your kind of help I can do without.

Laura: [Her heart sinking.] Grace.

[Chuckles weakly.] Thought you'd gotten rid of me did you?

Laura: [Stoically helps her sit up.] Can you blame me for wanting my friend back?

[Winces.] I guess not, since you're sorely lacking in those these days.

Laura: [Watching her closely.] Has the headache eased off? [When there is no answer, she looks back at the opening in the rock-face. If Marlena was calling for John, then maybe John might have a little more luck getting through to her than Laura has had so far. But how to get rid of Sam and Roman while she explains the Grace situation to John...?]
